Folkclub Twente organizes monthly folkconcerts (or open folk stage) at the Roef, Enschede, The Netherlands (on the German border just below the latitude of Amsterdam and Hannover). After a concert we have a opportunity for session play.

Concerts start on time, the concert hall will open half an hour in advance and is non-smoking (you can smoke outside, at the bar)
The price ranges are: adult | sponsor below 25 y/student | E-pas

Location

• By train: NS Reisplanner. It's a 20 minute walk from the station, or take bus 3 to Wooldrikspark. See also the 9292 public transport (Dutch)
  
• By Car: From Almelo/Amsterdam: On the A35 take exit 25 (Enschede-Zuid) and turn left at the traffic lights to Centrum. Continue (max 50 Km/h, speed check!) until the crossing and turn right there onto the ring road. Follow this road to the end of the Hogelandsingel with on your right Hubo and Mokana Meubels. The street before those shops is the Geertmanstraat, but it's one way. Take the next street to your right at the church (Heutinkstraat, after the shops) and take the first turn right on to the Geertmanstraat. The venue (De Roef) is on your right (opposite to a school). You'll pass a parking in the Geertmanstraat and there is also a parking in front of the Hubo.
  From Gronau: follow the Enscheder Strasse which changes into the Gronause Straat at the border. At the end turn left at the traffic lights and immediatly left again to enter the Heutinkstraat (passing the church on your right). take the first turn right on to the Geertmanstraat. The venue (De Roef) is on your right (opposite to a school). You'll pass a parking in the Geertmanstraat and there is also a parking in front of the Hubo.

The unsubsidized Folkclub Twente foundation is run by a group of enthusiastic volunteers and is financially depending on private sponsors. As a sponsor you donate EUR 12,= a year. In return you get a discount on entrance fee, our monthly newsletter (in Dutch) and priotiry at reservations. You can enter online or at a concert.

Folkclub Twente runs a mailinglist (in Dutch) for the latest news. You can subscribe with your email address. Send a email to listserv@nic.surfnet.nl with the following body text: SUBSCRIBE FOLKCLUB_TWENTE first name surname E.g. (the mail subject is not used):

On this list concerts are announced a few days in advance as well as changes to the website/agenda. It is a one-way list (from us to you), low traffic, the memberlist is private and the listserver is maintained by a respectable Dutch academic provider: SURFnet (no spam).

We organize about 2 open stages (Folkpodiums) a year with 3 folkacts on one evening. Folk musicians/bands interested in displaying their talents can register online. Folkclub Twente is interested in all folk styles.

After a concert we have plenty of opportunity for session play. So if you play an instrument, don't forget to bring it with you. Or maybe you can sing or tell stories.. The session usually starts in Irish folk tunes, but if you know some blues, klezmer, bluegrass, indian, or any other folk style, please don't be modest and take your chance..
